Spiking the football or the right thing to do... an opinion

Just a Chiefs view........

There will always be a debate in an election year if the Commander In Chief is on a campaign swing or fulfilling his duties when the Military is involved. President Obama's recent trip into Afghanistan has gathered that attention. Pundits will debate it, others will applaud it.
The speech in all its 10 minutes, was quick and to the point. As the very left leaning New York Times noted “The New York Times live blog analyzing Obama's Afghanistan speech last night found that "the speech was notable for Mr. Obama because unlike most of his other major addresses, it did not include any personal anecdotes. There were no specific stories of soldiers he has met or families he has consoled." It was may be viewed in a campaign year as just that, but what president has not used the benefits of office to mix policy with a campaign.
As a communications type and a military background you always look through neutral lens when an event blurs. In the end the President is the CINC, and when, as his speech did it was to the point and acknowledges the sacrifice men and women make and is more about "us" than "I”..... It is the right mix
